In the old Place period, stone engraving was in relative decline. Only a few pieces were created, mainly from monochrome stone. Interest attaches to the small offering-tables found in peak sanctuaries (Juktas, Symi), some of them incised. Kernoi and nest-shaped vases were manufactured in the Mesara. The neglect of stone vases may have been due to the dominance of Kamares ceramic ware.
